Frequently Asked Questions

What does "countersunk" mean for this pad?
Countersunk means the mounting holes are chamfered so countersunk head screws sit flush with the pad surface — no protruding screw heads that could snag lines or cause injury.

What size screws do I need?
The six countersunk holes are sized for 3/8" fasteners (25/64" hole diameter). Use 3/8"-16 stainless countersunk head screws for best results.

Can this pad be used on a fiberglass deck?
Yes — this pad is designed for fiberglass deck installations. The countersunk holes accommodate countersunk head screws, and the pad distributes fastener loads over a wider surface area to prevent deck damage.

Does this pad need a backing plate?
Yes — for through-bolted installations, pair this pad with SKU 0067 (matching round backing plate). The screw enters through this countersunk pad and passes through the mounting surface — whether on top of a pedestal, through the side of a pedestal, or through the fiberglass skin of a hardtop or T-top — and nuts thread onto the fastener behind the backing plate to lock the sandwich assembly together. They share the same bolt-circle pattern for perfect alignment.
