Frequently Asked Questions
What does "grommet pad" mean in this context?
A grommet pad has straight through-holes (not countersunk) and sits on the inside of the pedestal wall. It provides galvanic isolation between the fastener and the aluminum tube — preventing corrosion at the contact point.
Why two holes instead of four?
Two-hole spacing along the center axis suits narrower mounting surfaces where a four-corner pattern would overhang the edges. The 4" center-to-center spacing matches common fastener layouts on pedestal panels.
What fasteners work with this pad?
Use 5/8" machine screws or bolts to match the through-holes. Hardware and fastener requirements vary by installation — consult your fabricator for the appropriate specifications.
Why a rectangular pad instead of round?
Rectangular pads distribute fastener load across a wider surface area and align naturally with flat pedestal and hard top panels where a round pad would waste corner contact area.
